Which Subscription is right for me?

First of all, Mahalo!

Let us begin by saying, mahalo to you. You may be new to the Hawai‘i Symphony Orchestra, new to Hawai‘i or a long-time HSO patron looking for more information to guide your decision-making process. We hope to make your entire experience as rich and enjoyable as possible, and in many cases, a subscription delivers. Take a peek at a few options that we have for the 2017-2018 Season.

Taste, Frequency, and Budget

Taste – Do you prefer Pops over Masterworks? Are you looking for all keiki-friendly programming? You adore Brahms and Beethoven, but could do without the Scriabin. You want it all and couldn’t stand to miss one concert. Well, these are a few of the questions that you should ask yourself before considering a subscription. If you prefer Masterworks or all classical programming, you have a few different options.

Sunday 12 – This is the most comprehensive of the Halekulani Masterworks Subscriptions offerred. You will receive tickets for every classical concert that the Orchestra performs on Sunday, as well as our annual Beethoven 9 concert (this falls on Thursday). Start time is always 4 pm. You also receive access to Concert Conversations, a short, interactive lecture hosted by the Concert Master that engages the guest artist and conductor for each program. This subscription assigns you the same seat for each concert. Perks: You have the same seat all the time, you won’t miss anything, early start time at 4 pm, save 25% off the face value ticket price, save an additional 20% on extra tickets purchased, first right to renew your seats, first to receive information about new programs, concierge service and free ticket exchangesTickets

Saturday 8 – This offers another level for those looking to attend classical music concerts exclusively. In 2017-2018, there are 5 Saturdays, but we include the Season Opening on Sunday, October 1, the Lang Lang Concert on Sunday, February 18, as well as the Friday Ode to Joy performance. These are great evening events which begin at 7:30 pm. If you have other activities scheduled for Sundays, this may be the best option for you. You receive many of the same perks that are included in a Sunday 12 Subscription, although your seats may vary for the Sundays that have been added to this package. A new thing this year, it’s a little less expensive. You will also save 25% off the face value of tickets. If you’re a new subscriber, you’ll receive 30% off!  Our biggest discount ever.

Choose 6 – You are in front of the buffet line and simply take what you like and leave the rest. This is an extremely flexible package. In fact, it’s called a flex package! You can choose any 6 concerts at a single price level and head right out the door. Perhaps you’re only available some Saturdays and a one Sunday – you can make your package fit your availability. This flexibility does come with some restrictions. This is NOT a renewable series and you generally aren’t going to have the same seats for every concert. You do receive a discount, at 15%, which is a little less than the other subscriptions. Choose 6 is also the last subscription available for Masterworks. You also will not receive the additional discount on single ticket purchases and you may be assessed some fees to make last minute changes.

musicthatPOPS 6 – You love all things that pop. From Cirque to a Night on the Red Carpet and Judy Garland, this series has a ton of variety. This is a great ticket to have if you entertain, have a family with tastes that vary widely, or you’re simply a fan of ALL music. This has traditionally been offered as a  flex series, however with the great popularity of the program, we’ve designed this subscription as a traditional, renewable subscription. So, if you don’t want to miss a thing, and your seats are important to you, we encourage you to subscribe to the full subscription. This also offers the most savings at 20%.

musicthatPOPS 3 Fixed or Flex  – You love film scores and even family-friendly programs, but are willing to pass on a few of the more wild programs in the series. For those of you who want all family-friendly programs and would like to guarantee that you’re seats are int he exact same place each concert, we’ve designed a traditional or fixed Family 3 musicthatPOPS subscription. If you don’t mind moving seats within the price-level, but want more control over which concerts you buy, the musicthatPOPS Flex 3 is for you! Both come with a 10% discount.

Mixed Five – You just can’t decide. You like Masterworks, but a loved one likes Pops. You want to bring the kids, but have a few concerts that you wouldn’t mind seeing alone. Well, this is a wonderful option. It is not a traditional subscription at all, but it offers some savings and the ultimate in flexibility. You simply add five concerts to your basket, and the fifth concert is free. The least expensive concert is discounted, but you can choose tickets in any price range and mix and match.

Single tickets and discounts – This option has less up-front cost and may honestly be the best option for those of you with busy schedules who aren’t sure what they can commit to in advance. Student single ticket buyers are eligible to purchase any seat in the house for $13, the Monday prior to the concert day. All student tickets must be purchased with a valid student ID. We also offer $20 tickets to our active military service members. A valid military ID must be presented at the time of purchase and these seats are also available the Monday before the concert.
