Star Trek: The Ultimate Voyage
Celebrate 50 Years of Star Trek
Saturday, October 29 @ 7:30 pm

One of the most iconic television and film franchises of all time kicks off the HSO’s musicthatPOPS 2016-2017 Season!  Clips from the Star Trek various series and films will be projected on the big screen while you enjoy the music and boldly go where no man, has gone before!

Families are welcome and costumes are encouraged. After all, this concert is just in time for Halloween. Come as your favorite, “out of this world” character or Starfleet member.

Costume Contest

What would Halloween be without costumes? We will hold a costume contest prior to the concert, registration will be available on the Concert Hall lanai. Ticket-holders are encouraged to dress up and enter! Need ideas on what to where? Here are some resources.

Sarah Ioannides, Conductor

In her second season as Music Director of the Tacoma Symphony Orchestra, and 11th season as Music Director of the Spartanburg 4-portraits-1-by-pam-segura-closeupPhilharmonic Orchestra, where she will be stepping down after a tenure of bringing excellence and innovation to the orchestra and community, Sarah Ioannides is quickly gaining recognition as one of the most engaging and respected conductors of her generation.

Described by the New York Times as a conductor with “unquestionable strength and authority” and recently as a conductor with “magic”, Ioannides has led orchestras extensively in the United States including the Yale Philharmnonia, Toledo Symphony, Rochester Philharmonic, Louisville Orchestra, Buffalo Philharmonic,Tulsa Symphony, New West Symphony, Chattanooga Symphony, Chautauqua Symphony, North Carolina Symphony, Charleston Symphony, New Haven Symphony, Brevard Music Festival, Annapolis Symphony, and the New World Symphony. Internationally she has conducted the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestra Nationale de Lyon, Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, Flemish Radio Orchestra, National Symphony of Colombia, Daejeon Philharmonic, Wuttenbergisches Kammerorchester, Cyprus State Orchestra, Municipal Orchestra of Caracas and the Simon Bolivar Youth Orchestra. Most recently, she performed with the Tonkünstler Orchester in Vienna as well as the Translyvannian State Philharmonic Orchestra in Romania. A protege of Otto-Werner Mueller, Ioannides has appeared in special engagements with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the London Symphony Orchestra working with Pierre Boulez and Esa-Pekka Salonen.

Star Trek: The Ultimate Voyage brings 50 years of Star Trek to concert halls for the first time ever. The live concert tour launched in Florida in January 2016 and will play in more than 100 North American cities through April 2016.

This lavish production allows audiences to experience the franchise’s groundbreaking and wildly popular musical achievements while the most iconic Star Trek film and TV footage is simultaneously beamed in high definition to a wide screen.

The concert will feature some of the greatest music written for the franchise including favorites from Star Trek: The Original Series, Star Trek: The Motion Picture, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, Star Trek: Insurrection, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Voyager and much more. This live event is perfect for music lovers, filmgoers, fans and those looking for a unique concert experience.
